Solar Water Heating Kit
Enjoying warm water for showering and dishwashing while anchored for an extended period can feel like a luxurious treat for sailors. At Custom Marine Products, we've developed a simple and convenient solution to bring this luxury to you: harnessing radiant energy from the sun to heat water.
Here's how it operates:
Solar panels absorb significant warmth on sunny days, with temperatures on the backside reaching 150°F or higher when tilted toward the sun. By attaching a heat exchanger (collector) to the back of a solar panel, we can capture radiant heat passing through. Water from the heater is circulated through this exchanger, gradually heating up inside the water heater, effectively turning it into a heat storage vessel. This circulation process is powered by a low-draw circulation pump designed for efficiency, minimizing electrical energy consumption. Interestingly, the circulating water also helps cool the solar panel, boosting its power generation efficiency. Under optimal sunlight conditions, our system can heat water to over 110°F, eliminating the need to run your engine solely for water heating while anchored.
