Solar Panel Mounting Pole (with optional outboard motor lifting crane)
The top-of-pole mount offers the best design for achieving maximum performance from your solar panel. The closer the panel is to being perpendicular to the rays of the sun the higher the performance. Thus, the panel needs to be both tilted and rotated. Our experience indicates that adjusting an 85 watt panel 3-4 times a day will achieve power generation of up to 40 amp-hours on a clear day on the Great Lakes.
We have found 65 and 85 watt Kyocera solar panels to be very cost effective although we will customize our mount to almost any solar panel.
Kyocera panels can be purchased through our company and can be shipped with the top-of-pole mount installed.
Solar Panel Mounting Pole Unit
Our standard solar panel mounting kit is designed for use with the Kyocera KC85TS 85 watt solar panel. The panel is not included in the kit but can be purchased separately through us.
The kit includes the following:
1 Solar panel pole - 5 feet high, 1.50 inches in diameter
2 Stern rail mounting brackets
1 Pole base deck mount (standard ball pole base, slotted optional, please specify)
1 Solar panel tilt assembly with mounting hardware
When ordering, please specify the diameter of each
stern rail (7/8" or 1") and the type of pole base (see below).
Price $699. Please allow two weeks for delivery. Call us at 248-705-8337 with any questions or to place an order.
Solar Panel Mounting Pole Unit PLUS Outboard Motor Lifting Crane
Both the solar panel mounting system and the outboard motor lift use the same rotating pole.
The combined unit includes all of the components listed above for the solar panel mount plus the following:
1 Crane arm assembly - 18 inches in length

The Solar Panel Mounting System Description

Solar Panel Tilting Mechanism
A panel mount should be easy to adjust without the use of tools. Our panel mount design provides 13 tilt positions by simply pulling a pin, tilting the panel and replacing the pin. The panel can be rotated 360 degrees. A pole rotation locking mechanism provides the ability to lock the pole in a specific position for optimum sun angle.
The top-of-pole mount can be purchased as a kit or custom built in our shop ready to install. The kit includes all the materials needed to mount your solar panel. Tools required are a hacksaw to cut the braces to size (if you provide us dimensions, we will do it for you), a drill to put holes in the braces and solar panel, a wrench, and a screwdriver. Kit materials are aluminum and starboard so are easily cut. We will custom build the mount given the dimensions of the panel. Our custom built unit is easy to assemble and install.
The Pole

Brackets clamp onto the stern rail
The top-of-pole mount is designed to set atop our 1.5 inch OD stainless steel rotating pole. The tilting mechanism enables 13 tilting positions. The standard pole height is 5 feet. A custom pole height can be specified at the time of order.
The pole is attached to the stern rail(s) such that no drilling or machining is required. Brackets clamp onto the stern rail and attach to adjustable sleeves that hold the pole and allow it to rotate. The sleeves can be set to any of three distances from the stern rail so the rails need not be directly above each other. We offer several pole base designs to accommodate various boat configurations.

Bimini Frame Panel Mount
Our bimini frame panel mounts are custom designed and fabricated for each application. A solar panel or series of panels can be mounted on the custom frame across the top of the bimini. This allows upwards of 300 watts of solar power to be mounted above the bimini.
To provide a quote, we suggest you provide us with pictures of your bimini, rough dimensions of both the bimini and the solar panels you intend to use. Our designers will work with you to design the optimum system for your needs.
